A2 Fire Rated Aluminium Honeycomb Panels

Direct answer: HYCOMB® aluminium honeycomb composite panels are classified
A2-s1,d0,t0 to GB 8624-2006, verified by the National Fireproof
Building Materials Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (China) under test
report 202110132 on a 15 mm panel. Our stone honeycomb panels hold a
separate EN 13501-1:2018 A2-s1,d0 classification (SGS-CSTC report
SDFS2002000643FF). Panels are produced in Foshan by Foshan Liming Honeycomb Composites Co., Ltd.
(HYCOMB®), manufacturer since 2000.

What “A2-s1,d0,t0” actually means

Symbol Meaning Our result
A2 Reaction-to-fire class — limited contribution to fire (class A1 = fully non-combustible, A2 = next level) ✅ A2
s1 Smoke production — s1 is the lowest smoke output band ✅ s1
d0 Flaming droplets / particles — d0 means none produced ✅ d0
t0 Smoke toxicity (China GB axis) — t0 is the lowest toxicity band ✅ t0

In plain terms: the panel contributes very little to a fire, produces little smoke, sheds no
burning droplets, and releases low-toxicity smoke. This is the highest practical band for a
composite panel and is what facade specifiers in Europe and the Middle East ask for.

Please note the scope precisely: the GB 8624-2006 A2-s1,d0,t0 classification
(report 202110132) was issued for an aluminium honeycomb composite panel. The EN
13501-1:2018 A2-s1,d0 classification (report SDFS2002000643FF) was issued for a stone
honeycomb panel. We do not present one as covering the other.

Condition of validity

The GB 8624-2006 classification is valid where the panel is installed with an air gap to a
substrate that is itself class A1 or A2, of density ≥ 800 kg/m³ and thickness ≥ 6 mm — which is the
normal build-up of a ventilated (rainscreen) facade. If you need the classification to hold in a
different build-up, tell us the substrate and we will confirm or re-test.

Product specification

Item Range

Standard Manufactured to our own controlled specification; tested to the standards listed above

Where A2 fire-rated aluminium honeycomb panels are specified

  • Building facades and rainscreen cladding — where A2 is mandated for high-rise and high-risk buildings.
  • Transport interiors — rolling stock, airport terminals, metro stations (we hold rolling-stock interior flame test data, report SDHL1607013570FB).
  • Tunnels, car parks and enclosed public spaces — where smoke (s1) and toxicity (t0) drive the specification as much as the fire class.
  • Ceilings, canopies, column casings and lift cladding — where a low droplet risk (d0) matters.

Why source direct from the manufacturer

  • Since 2000 — 26 years making honeycomb, in Foshan, Guangdong, China.
  • Complete line set — we run honeycomb core lines, aluminium composite panel lines and stone/porcelain honeycomb lines ourselves, so core, bonding and finishing are under one roof.
  • Widest panel capability — up to 2000 × 6000 mm, so a facade can be built with fewer joints.
  • Project record — supplied to Marina Bay Sands (Singapore), the Venetian Macao, One Kensington Row (London), 321 Ocean Drive (Miami), Astana Arena, Guangzhou Baiyun Airport and metro projects across Asia.
  • Certifications — ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001; Miami-Dade County NOA no. 25-0728.10 (valid to 2030-08-20) for our honeycomb aluminium composite wall panel system; see our certifications page.

Frequently asked questions

Is your aluminium honeycomb panel EN 13501-1 rated?

Our EN 13501-1:2018 A2-s1,d0 test report (SDFS2002000643FF) was issued for a stone honeycomb
panel, not an aluminium one. Our aluminium honeycomb composite panel holds a GB 8624-2006
A2-s1,d0,t0 classification (report 202110132). If your project requires an EN 13501-1
classification specifically on an all-aluminium panel, tell us the build-up — we can commission
the EN test for your specification.

What is the difference between GB 8624 and EN 13501-1?

Both classify reaction to fire, but they use different test methods and different cut-offs, so
an A2 in one is not automatically an A2 in the other. GB 8624 is the Chinese national standard;
EN 13501-1 is the European standard. We hold reports under both, on different products, and we
always state which product each report covers.

Can you supply A2 panels larger than 2000 × 6000 mm?

2000 × 6000 mm is our current maximum on the all-aluminium line. It is already wider than most
competitors, who typically stop at 1220–1500 mm width. If your design needs a different size,
send the drawing — we will confirm feasibility rather than quote a size we cannot make.

What is the lead time?

Standard lead time starts at about two weeks. Projects above roughly 1,000 m², or with special
coating, curving or fixing fabrication, usually take longer. We confirm the schedule with the
quotation, based on the actual quantity and finish.

Do you supply the fixing system as well as the panel?

Yes. We have supplied panel plus sub-frame plus clips and anchors for years — Z-clips, miter
returns, edge sealing, cut-outs and pre-fixed brackets. Ask for a system quotation rather than a
panel-only price; it is usually the better value.

What adhesion and strength data do you have?

Our bonded structure has been tested for rolling-stock use: pull-off above 5 MPa and peel
strength above 100 N·mm/mm, with the honeycomb core failing before the bond — i.e. the bond is
stronger than the core. We can share the test data on request.

Do you provide a Declaration of Performance or EPD?

We provide test reports, declarations and material data. An Environmental Product Declaration
(EPD) for our facade panels is on our roadmap — if your project requires one, raise it early so we
can plan it into the programme.

How do I get a quotation?

Send the drawing, the panel size, the coating and the quantity to
intl@hycomb.com.cn. We normally return a quotation within
two working days.
